Concert Band

While what is deemed by society as the upper stratum of music performance are orchestras, concert bands are still making it huge in the vast majority of performing companies almost everywhere else. For those who are not aware, a concert band consists of several of individuals performing utilizing various kinds of percussion and wind instruments such as the tuba, euphonium, trombone, trumpet, French horn, clarinet, the saxophone, bassoon, oboe, and the flute. In other parts of the world, the concert band is also tagged as the symphonic band or the wind band.

Reaching its definitive status in the early 1900's, the public school system slowly engaged in teaching students the art of playing the many musical instruments available back then. Nowadays, it is rare to find a school district without a concert band. Many communities subsidize concert bands composed of active citizens within the locality that function independently from the school concert band system.

You can easily distinguish a concert band from a marching band because of the group's primary function, although the typical musical repertoire of a concert band will always contain marching songs and pieces. The concert band has become a regular fixture in community events such as fairs and plays.
